Firebrand Brewing

Firebrand Brewing

We founded Firebrand Brewing Co to create the beers we want to drink. Covering all styles, but always standing out and never bland. Brewed on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall using the finest British barley, hops from around the world and our own spring water, we're sure you'll enjoy our beers as much as we do.

More

Firebrand was born in January 2014 out of a mastery of brewing, an experience in the beer trade and an intimacy with food. The brewery sits in a converted milking parlour at Trenarrett Farm in the heart of North Cornwall just outside Launceston. Our mantra – ‘Craft beer brewed the way we like it’ – runs through everything we do. Brewing wizard and beer sommelier Joe Thomson heads up the enterprise while his brother, Eddie, is head chef at Firebrand Bar & Restaurant just up the road. Joe’s business partner and co-brewer, Stephen Medlicott, with trainee brewers John Salter and Jim Mahoney on the farm. In September 2013, Joe started a joint venture with school buddy and beer festival organiser Chris Hassall, opening the Beer Cellar specialist bottled beer shop in Truro, the capital of Cornwall, and a bar of the same name in Exeter, Devon. They set up Firebrand Brewing Co four months later and the brand kicked off instantly with their randalizer (a hop cone filter designed to remove the oils from hops) getting rave reviews at London’s Craft Beer Rising. It didn’t begin there though. Six years before Firebrand Brewing Co launched, Joe and Stephen started Penpont Brewery to brew local real ales. Today, the two breweries run side-by-side in hoppy harmony, selling Cornish craft beers and real ales in the UK and abroad. All our bottled beers are suitable for vegans.
