Biochemistry graduate Alan Thomson spent 18 years as a brewer with 3 companies in 5 breweries, becoming a Company Director and qualifying as a Master Brewer along the way. Disillusioned with corporate life, he left it all behind in 1995 when he set up Old Chimneys Brewery at his Suffolk home.
Old Chimneys' ethos of quality and innovation is demonstrated by a rosette rating for consistent high quality in Jeff Evans' GOOD BOTTLED BEER GUIDE, with star ratings given to five individual beers. Alan also features in Rick Stein's book GUIDE TO THE FOOD HEROES OF BRITAIN.
Old Chimneys' flagship beer, GOOD KING HENRY SPECIAL RESERVE, is the highest rated British Beer on www.ratebeer.com, and the only one in the World’s top 50.
All Old Chimneys' beers are bottle conditioned.
