Star Wing Brewery

Star Wing Brewery

In 1877 a redbrick sawmill stood proud, looking across the fields of rural Suffolk. In its dust, nearly 150 years later, awakes Star Wing Brewery. Still a place where craft and industry meet, the tree rings of old are laid bare and new lines are drawn. READ BETWEEN THE RINGS…

We started Star Wing with the aim of being more than just a brewery. From growing our own hops, to hosting a Shakespeare festival, we wanted to build a hub in our community where beer and rural life could go hand in hand: where basketry meets bitter and pottery meets pale. Interestingly, we weren’t always called Star Wing. At first we were named Selig (which means Blessed in German) and for this, we developed a logo based around an angel carved onto a church in our nearest town (you can see what this angel looks like on our Stain Glass Blue label). As time moved on, the angel logo reduced down to a pair of wings with a star in the middle. At this point, we realised we had created the perfect brand for a German lager and since we didn’t quite plan on producing lager (or abiding by the Reinheitsgebot) we decided to take the logo more literally and change our name to Star Wing Brewery.
